Lecht Ski Centre - Strathdon - AB36 8YP

The Lecht Activity Centre is situated in the heart of Scotland’s largest National Park at the top of the pass between Tomintoul and Strathdon. This natural playground offers exciting outdoor activities for both the summer and winter seasons and the local staff are keen to make sure you have an enjoyable day out on the hills.

Winter activities are ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders but especially good for beginners and intermediates. A total 12 different lifts, including a 3 person chairlift and a magic carpet travelator which get novices going on day one.  All equipment and clothing can be hired on site, equipment can be booked on line, the ski school can develop your skills from basic to racers and all in a safe environment close to the beautiful purpose built day lodge, which houses cafe, bar, ticket office, shop, ski hire, toilets all under one roof.  

Glenshee Ski Centre - Braemar

Glenshee Ski Centre is the largest ski resort in Scotland and is sometimes referred to as the Scottish three valleys. There are 22 lifts and 36 runs on offer!

Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre is Britain's only purpose-built all-weather facility for cross-country skiing, providing tuition at all levels from novice to elite.

When there is good snow cover, skis are available to hire by the day. When we have no snow you can try skiing on our all weather tracks, tubing on the downhill mat, or hire a bike for the day to explore the local roads and forests.

Satrosphere Science Centre is a hands-on science and discovery centre with over 50 exhibits, live shows and a regular event schedule throughout the year. The aim of the centre is to inspire youngsters into becoming the scientists of tomorrow.

Deeside Activity Park

The centre offers a wide range of activities including Archery, clay pigeon shooting, digger driving, kart racing, treasure hunts, orienteering, paintball, quad bikes etc. The centre also has 3 self catering cottages within the grounds that could be used for a base to go walking, cycling, fishing or just a family break.

The Grampians is probably the best area in the whole of the UK for visiting distilleries. This is a major area for Scottish Whiskey with over 30 distilleries within a 20 mile radius. Many of the distilleries offer tours and a few are listed below. A malt whisky distillery is located on the Balmoral Estate nearby that produces the Royal Lochnagar Single Malt whisky.

Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle has been one of the residences of the British Royal Family since 1852 and is a working estate with grouse moors, forestry and farmland, as well as managed herds of deer, Highland cattle and ponies.

Balmoral is a wonderful venue for a day out and during the open season you will find lots of activities to participate in. Each year the Ranger Service offers a number of guided walks and luxury land rover safaris.

Visitors can enjoy the marked walks through the woods, up Craig Gowan hill with fantastic views overlooking the Castle and along the riverside. You can also participate in a guided tour around the grounds, gardens and exhibitions or for the more energetic groups a tour around the monuments and cairns situated within the grounds. For the keen anglers there is salmon fishing on the River Dee.

The grounds, gardens and exhibitions are closed to the Public during August, September and October as The Royal Family are in residence.
